Wichita Bonding Co. has some of the best bondsmen in the industry working with us. Our office is at 700 N Market St in Wichita and we cover Park City and all of Sedgwick County. We are not here just to provide a service and make money. We actually care about the people who call us, usually on the worst night they have had in a long time.
If someone you care about was picked up in Park City, two things decide what happens next: where they are being held, and which court has their case. Those are the first two things we sort out when you call.
We make it easy for you. Let us handle the court and paperwork so you don’t have to.
Open 24/7. We’ll even come and pick you up in Park City if you need us to.
A bail bond is a service fee for putting up bail money to a court in order to allow you to get out of jail until your court date. The court will set a bail amount for you, if it is more than you can afford and you don’t want yourself or your loved one to remain in jail until that court date, then you need to talk to a bail bonds company who will put the money up on your behalf.
Co-signing for a bail bond means you are taking legal responsibility for the full amount of the bail bond. So if the court said the bail bond was $10,000, and the bail bondsman is asking you to pay $1,000 to them as their service fee, and the person skips out and runs from the appointed court date, the bondsman will come after you to get the money they put up to the court, which means you owe the full $10,000.
If they were arrested in Park City, they are almost certainly at the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility at 141 W Elm St in Wichita, not anywhere in Park City. Our office is at 700 N Market St, a short drive from that building. Call (316) 833-8506 and we will confirm where they are and what the bond is, then a bondsman comes to you.
Park City does not run its own jail. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office books people for every city in Sedgwick County, so someone arrested by Park City police is taken to the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility at 141 W Elm St in Wichita. The jail’s main line is (316) 660-5245.
Park City sits just north of Wichita, so the drive is short, but the point stands: the arrest happens in Park City and the booking happens in Wichita. If you are calling around Park City looking for someone, you are looking in the wrong place.
The Park City Police non-emergency line is (316) 744-2011.
Which court has the case decides where the bond gets posted and when the first appearance happens, so it is worth understanding before you do anything else.
Park City Municipal Court handles violations of Park City ordinances committed inside city limits, which is mostly traffic and lower level offenses charged under city code. There is no jury in municipal court. A judge decides the case, and the city has its own prosecutor rather than the county district attorney.
Sedgwick County District Court handles anything charged under Kansas state law, which means every felony and the state misdemeanors. That court is at 525 N Main St in Wichita, phone (316) 660-5900. A felony is never handled in municipal court, no matter where the arrest happened.
If you are not sure which court has your person’s case, call us. Finding that out is the first thing we do, and it costs you nothing to ask.
Sedgwick County publishes a free public inmate search, and you can look someone up yourself without paying anyone. It can take a few hours after an arrest before a name shows up. If you cannot find them yet, that usually means booking is not finished, not that they are somewhere else.
The Sedgwick County jail takes three kinds of bond: cash only, release on a person’s own recognizance when a judge grants it, and a professional surety bond, which is the kind we post.
Two things are worth knowing before you drive to the jail with cash. A cash bond over $10,000 requires photo identification and IRS reporting paperwork. And the Sheriff’s Office cannot refund a cash bond once it has been posted, because the court that receives the money decides what happens to it, not the jail and not you.
That second point is why a lot of families call a bondsman instead of emptying a savings account at the jail window.
Our office is in Wichita, not in Park City, and that is not a drawback. One of our bondsmen will come to you. Being minutes from the Sedgwick County jail is the part that actually matters here, because that is where the paperwork gets posted and where your person walks out.
We answer the phone 24 hours a day. Call (316) 833-8506 and we will tell you where they are, what the bond is, and exactly what it will cost you before you agree to anything.
