Wichita Bonding Co. has some of the best bondsmen in the industry working with us. Our office is at 700 N Market St in Wichita and we cover Valley Center and all of Sedgwick County. We are not here just to provide a service and make money. We actually care about the people who call us, usually on the worst night they have had in a long time.
If someone you care about was picked up in Valley Center, two things decide what happens next: where they are being held, and which court has their case. Those are the first two things we sort out when you call.
We make it easy for you. Let us handle the court and paperwork so you don’t have to.
Open 24/7. We’ll even come and pick you up in Valley Center if you need us to.
A bail bond is a service fee for putting up bail money to a court in order to allow you to get out of jail until your court date. The court will set a bail amount for you, if it is more than you can afford and you don’t want yourself or your loved one to remain in jail until that court date, then you need to talk to a bail bonds company who will put the money up on your behalf. Chose the #1 bail bonds agency in Valley Center, Kansas when getting bail.
Co-signing for a bail bond means you are taking legal responsibility for the full amount of the bail bond. So if the court said the bail bond was $10,000, and the bail bondsman is asking you to pay $1,000 to them as their service fee, and the person skips out and runs from the appointed court date, the bondsman will come after you to get the money they put up to the court, which means you owe the full $10,000.
If they were arrested in Valley Center, they are almost certainly at the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility at 141 W Elm St in Wichita, not anywhere in Valley Center. Our office is at 700 N Market St, a short drive from that building. Call (316) 833-8506 and we will confirm where they are and what the bond is, then a bondsman comes to you.
Valley Center does not run its own jail. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office books people for every city in Sedgwick County, so someone arrested by Valley Center police is taken to the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility at 141 W Elm St in Wichita. The jail’s main line is (316) 660-5245.
Valley Center Police operate around the clock, so arrests happen at any hour, but the booking always ends up south in Wichita. The arrest happens in Valley Center and the person does not stay there.
Which court has the case decides where the bond gets posted and when the first appearance happens, so it is worth understanding before you do anything else.
Valley Center Municipal Court handles violations of Valley Center city ordinances committed inside city limits, which is mostly traffic and lower level offenses charged under city code. There is no jury in municipal court. A judge decides the case. Court is held at the Valley Center Community Building, 314 E Clay, Valley Center, KS 67147. The court clerk’s office is at City Hall, 121 S Meridian, and the court phone is (316) 755-7310. Valley Center Police are at 616 E 5th, non-emergency line (316) 755-7325.
Sedgwick County District Court handles anything charged under Kansas state law, which means every felony and the state misdemeanors. That court is at 525 N Main St in Wichita, phone (316) 660-5900. A felony is never handled in municipal court.
Valley Center Municipal Court sits on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, with one exception: in November and December the court meets on the second Wednesday only.
The dockets run at set times. Traffic matters are heard at 6:00 p.m. Misdemeanors and other matters are heard at 7:00 p.m. Trials are heard at 8:30 a.m., and only on the second Wednesday. The clerk’s office is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to noon.
Twice a month is not often. Depending on when an arrest happens, the wait for a first appearance can be two or three weeks, and in November or December it can be longer. Posting bond is what gets someone home in the meantime instead of waiting it out in custody.
Sedgwick County publishes a free public inmate search, and you can look someone up yourself without paying anyone. It can take a few hours after an arrest before a name shows up. If you cannot find them yet, that usually means booking is not finished, not that they are somewhere else.
The Sedgwick County jail takes three kinds of bond: cash only, release on a person’s own recognizance when a judge grants it, and a professional surety bond, which is the kind we post.
Two things are worth knowing before you drive to the jail with cash. A cash bond over $10,000 requires photo identification and IRS reporting paperwork. And the Sheriff’s Office cannot refund a cash bond once it has been posted, because the court that receives the money decides what happens to it, not the jail and not you.
That second point is why a lot of families call a bondsman instead of emptying a savings account at the jail window.
Our office is in Wichita, not in Valley Center, and that is not a drawback. One of our bondsmen will come to you. Being minutes from the Sedgwick County jail is the part that actually matters here, because that is where the paperwork gets posted and where your person walks out.
We answer the phone 24 hours a day. Call (316) 833-8506 and we will tell you where they are, what the bond is, and exactly what it will cost you before you agree to anything.
